Design Detroit had the pleasure of speaking with Jeff from Antonino’s Salon and Spa to discuss spring hair trends.  A new color and style  is the perfect way to get you through the last of winter, while preparing you for what lies ahead this spring.

The Spring, 2012 forecast can be described as minimalistic, natural and easy. The outdoor, sporty look with imperfect ponytails, braids and messy up-do’s give American glamour a new, unfinished edge.

The 2012 Spring season is all about revival. The basis for the dominant styles of this season is an infusion of a unique undertone of modernist style with some of the most iconic styles of the 20th century infused together.

With styles and colors we’re seeing the best of the past reborn. Cuts are being reintroduced into luxurious revivals of styles that sit perfectly with the year’s clothing trends.

By combining a unique undertone of modern and iconic styles with new twists and today’s quality, we’ll be seeing yet another season of renaissance and evolution.

A perfect example of the middle ground between a classic style and today’s “undone” trend is this messy up-style. Being elegant to a tee, it looks careless without compromising style and doesn’t require precision or complex tools to be accomplished.

Another example of a traditional twist with 2012’s “messy” trend.

The classic pony tail makes a strong come-back in 2012

The ever popular pixie crop is not going anywhere. It’s as popular today as it’s ever been. We’ve seen many adaptations and 2012’s rock crop is the newest. This appeals to women who love short fringe with a punk, messy and rock and roll edge.  Another version of the 2012 pixie is featured with a softer, longer fringe.

As with clothing trends, hair color for 2012, is going to be bolder, brighter and braver. Whether it be an all over color or bright accent pieces, be ready to have some fun. Like cuts, hair color is following the same revival-classic but with a modern, more daring edge. Accents of bold red pieces, make a beautiful auburn stand out

Salt sprays, texture creams and dry shampoos are great products for achieving the “messy-undone” look. La tete’s “Sel de Mer” and Catwalk’s “Salt Spray” give the hair that beachy feel, Catwalk’s “Dry Shampoo” adds extra texture and La tete’s “Dream Cream” adds extra grit for that day after texture.

All products are available at Antonino Salon and Spa in downtown Birmingham. www-antoninosalon.com, 248-258-5990.
